Where to get Tune.Toys on each platform, what is available today and what is still to come.
Tune.Toys runs in your browser today, with nothing to install. Desktop downloads come from the same signed release feed the Installer uses; this page lists each one only once it is published.
| Platform | What you get | Get it | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| Web (current browsers) | The editor, Player and your Library | Open tune.toys | Available |
| macOS (Apple silicon) | The desktop app: the editor in its own window, plus the Installer | Not published yet | Runs in development builds; the signed, notarized release pipeline is ready and the first release is pending |
| DAW plugin (VST3) and standalone Toys | A Toy in your DAW or as its own app | Through the Installer, from a product's page | In qualification |
| Windows (x64) | The desktop app and Installer, installed for your account without an administrator prompt | Not published yet | Packaging and signing are set up; the first build and release are pending |
| Linux (x64) | The desktop app as an AppImage, or a .deb package | Not published yet | Packaging is set up; the first build and release are pending |
| iOS, Android and the browser extension | Playing Toys on the go | — | Planned |
See Requirements for browsers and audio, and Desktop app, Player and Installer for what the desktop app does.
How downloads are verified#
Every desktop download is listed in a product's signed release feed with its size and SHA-256 digest. The Installer and the desktop app's own updates check the feed's signature, then the file's digest, then the app's code signature before anything is installed. A file that fails any check is discarded. Releases announce each new version.
Building the desktop app yourself#
Developers can run the macOS desktop app from the source repository before it is published:
npm ci
npm run build # the web editor the desktop app bundles
npm run build -w @tunetoys/desktop # the Electron main process, preloads and bundled editor
npm start -w @tunetoys/desktop # opens the Installer; File → New Editor Window opens the editorA development build is signed only for your own Mac and talks to the platform set in the Installer's settings. See the desktop shell for details.
