Video
Video cables carry frames of pictures from sources through effects to a live Screen in a Frame.
A video cable carries one to eight streams of frames, the way an audio cable carries channels. Sources, effects and mixers wire together exactly like audio nodes.
What it does#
Video nodes run in the browser's WebGPU video engine. It is frame-paced: each node renders when something downstream asks for a frame, and the newest frame wins, so a slow source drops frames instead of building a queue. The Player and exports do not run video yet and report it unavailable; the audio of the Toy still plays.
The only way to see a video output is a Screen widget in the Frame with "mode": "live" and "source": { "node": "<node id>", "port": "video" }. Sources come from the host: Camera, Screen capture and Media player need the person's permission or choice, and a Toy stores only a logical label, never a device. Image, Paint surface and Text layer make pictures without a device.
Processors such as Color, Blur and Chroma key take a video input and give a video output. Composite, Crossfade and Switcher mix streams; Combine streams and Select streams route bundles. Snapshot and Recorder save to the device.
Tips#
- Video cannot connect to audio or control inputs; the editor rejects mismatched cables.
- Every video parameter can be driven by a one-lane control cable through its
@paramsocket. - Camera and microphone are never recorded or uploaded by the Toy.
