Reuse a patch with independent controls
Understand nested patches, independent instance state and reusable Frames using two stereo gain stages.
Template: Two Gain Stages. You will learn: definitions, instances and nested Frames.
- Open Two Gain Stages and inspect the two Level controls in its Frame.
- Preview the demo input. Change one Level while leaving the other at its default.
- Create a copy and open Patch. The first and second nodes both instantiate the same gain definition.
- Open a nested instance to inspect its gain node and public Level parameter.
- Return to the main Frame. Each nested Frame binds to its own instance, so editing one control leaves the other independent.
- Save or publish the composition to share its portable graph and Frames together.
Read Groups and reusable patches and Frames for the ideas behind this.
The template
Learn to reuse a patch without sharing its mutable state. Two Gain Stages places two instances of one gain definition in series. Each instance has its own Level value and its own nested Frame.

Audio2ch
Audio2ch
Audio2ch
Multiplies both audio channels. 0 silences the signal; 1 leaves its level unchanged. Range: 0–2 ×. Default: 0.5 ×. Linear scale. Units: linear gain.

Controls
- The first Level scales the incoming stereo audio.
- The second Level scales the output of the first instance.
- Both controls use the same reusable definition, with independent values.
