Color as the Patch draws it, at default values: inlets on the left, outlets on the right.

Color adjusts brightness, contrast, saturation, hue, gamma and warmth, or inverts the picture.

What it does#

Each control changes one aspect of the picture and the defaults change nothing. It processes every stream of the input at that stream's size and keeps the stream count.

When to use it#

Use it to match sources, stylise a camera, or build a photobooth with Pixelate.

Parameters#

ParameterLabelRangeDefaultUnitScaleNotes
brightnessBrightness-1 to 10linearOffset added to every channel.
contrastContrast0 to 31linearScale around mid grey.
saturationSaturation0 to 31linear0 is monochrome, 1 unchanged.
hueHue-180 to 1800°linearHue rotation in degrees.
gammaGamma0.2 to 51logGamma curve applied to each channel.
temperatureWarmth-1 to 10linearShift towards orange (positive) or blue (negative).
invertInvert0 to 10linearInvert the colours. Choices: 0 Normal, 1 Inverted.

Brightness (brightness)#

Adds or removes light, from -1 to 1.

Contrast (contrast)#

Spreads or squeezes tones around grey; 1 is unchanged.

Saturation (saturation)#

Colour strength; 0 is greyscale and 1 is unchanged.

Hue (hue)#

Rotates all colours around the colour wheel, in degrees.

Gamma (gamma)#

Bends the midtones; below 1 brightens and above 1 darkens. Logarithmic.

Warmth (temperature)#

Shifts the picture cooler (negative) or warmer (positive).

Invert (invert)#

Turns every colour into its opposite when on.

Tips#

  • Chain it before Chroma key to help a difficult key.
  • Video needs the browser's WebGPU video engine. The Player and exports do not run video yet and report it unavailable. To see a video output, bind a live Screen in the Frame to it.

Help patches

Each help patch is an ordinary Toy that teaches one idea. The diagram shows the Patch; the preview shows its Frame. Open it in TuneToys to play and edit it.
