Cables and channels
Cables carry audio between nodes. Their channel count follows the ports they connect.
A cable connects an output port of one node to an input port of another. It is how sound moves through a patch.
What it does#
Each cable has one driver: an input port accepts exactly one cable, and the source can feed many. Audio cables carry one or more channels. Connecting two ports checks that their channel counts agree, that the input is not already driven, and that the connection does not create a cycle. Invalid drops are blocked with an explanation.
Tips#
- To add several signals into one input, use the Mixer.
- Cables can have visual waypoints that never change the sound.
- See Multichannel audio for how widths are decided.
