# Requirements

> What you need to use Tune.Toys in the browser: a current browser, an audio output, and an optional account.

## Browser

Tune.Toys runs its audio engine as WebAssembly in an AudioWorklet, so it needs a current desktop or mobile browser with those features. Audio starts only after a click or tap. If a browser blocks or suspends audio, the app shows a message instead of failing silently.

## Audio

- Use headphones or speakers at a comfortable level. Previews play at a reduced monitor level, and the monitor level is yours to set under **Settings → Audio**.
- The audio device and sample-rate options are in [Account and settings](https://docs.tune.toys/manual/account-settings/).
- MIDI keyboards need a browser that supports Web MIDI. The app asks for access only when you open the MIDI monitor or map a control.

## Account

You can open, play and edit Toys without an account. An account is needed to keep drafts on the server, publish, build a library across devices, buy, sell, review, comment and use the developer platform.

## Desktop

The macOS desktop app, the Installer and the DAW Player are described in [Desktop app, Player and Installer](https://docs.tune.toys/manual/player-installer/); [Download](https://docs.tune.toys/start/download/) lists what you can install today. None of them are needed to use Tune.Toys in a browser.
