# Select channels

> Extract a contiguous channel range. Use several selectors to split a bundle.

Source: https://docs.tune.toys/nodes/std.select/

Select channels keeps a contiguous range of channels from an audio bundle and drops the rest.

## What it does

Selection is set in the node's audio configuration, not by a knob. The first selected channel (counting from 1) and the number of channels to keep are set in the Channels section of the node's Properties. The selected lanes become the output, in order. A range that falls outside the incoming bundle is rejected. The node has no parameters.

## When to use it

Use it to pick one lane from a multichannel source, or place several selectors side by side to split a bundle into separate paths. To rebuild a bundle use [Combine channels](https://docs.tune.toys/nodes/std.combine/). To reorder or mix lanes use [Channel matrix](https://docs.tune.toys/nodes/std.matrix/).

## Ports

<!-- ports:start -->

| Port    | Direction | Signal | Lanes                   |
| ------- | --------- | ------ | ----------------------- |
| `audio` | Input     | Audio  | Inferred from the cable |
| `audio` | Output    | Audio  | Inferred from the cable |

<!-- ports:end -->

## Parameters

<!-- parameters:start -->

This node has no numeric parameters.

<!-- parameters:end -->

This node has no parameters. Choose its range in the Channels section of the node's Properties.

## Tips

- To split a stereo bundle, use two selectors: one keeping channel 1, one keeping channel 2.
- A mono result needs a mono or adapting destination. See [Multichannel audio](https://docs.tune.toys/concepts/multichannel/).
