# Mixer

> Sum up to 32 channels, each with gain, pan, mute and solo, into one mix with a master level. Plug a cable in to add a channel.

Source: https://docs.tune.toys/nodes/std.mixer/

Blend an editable list of up to 32 audio channels. Plug a cable into + Channel or onto the card to create a channel, or add an empty one and wire it later.

## What it does

Each channel has its own input, gain, pan, mute and solo. A durable channel ID names its input and controls: `channel.in`, `channel.gain`, `channel.pan`, `channel.mute` and `channel.solo`. The `master` level follows the sum. Mute beats solo; when any channel is soloed, only soloed channels are heard. Solo is saved and automatable.

Drag a channel's grip to reorder it, or drag it off the card to remove it. Reordering, names, colours and icons affect presentation only; cables and Frame controls continue following the same channel. Undoing removal restores its controls and cables.

## When to use it

Combine sources into one mix, make a subgroup, or build a desk with mute and solo. For a single balance between two sources use [Crossfade](https://docs.tune.toys/nodes/std.crossfade/).

## Ports

| ------------ | --------- | ------ | ----------------------- |
| `channel.in` | Input     | Audio  | Inferred from the cable |
| `audio`      | Output    | Audio  | Inferred from the cable |

<!-- parameters:start -->

| Parameter      | Label        | Range     | Default | Unit | Scale  | Notes                                                                                                                                               |
| -------------- | ------------ | --------- | ------- | ---- | ------ | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| `master`       | Master       | -60 to 12 | 0       | dB   | linear | Mix output level in decibels, after every channel. −60 dB is off; 0 dB leaves the sum unchanged.                                                    |
| `channel.gain` | channel Gain | -60 to 12 | 0       | dB   | linear | Level of this channel in decibels. −60 dB is off; 0 dB leaves it unchanged.                                                                         |
| `channel.pan`  | channel Pan  | -1 to 1   | 0       |      | linear | Position on a two-lane mix: −1 left, 0 centre, 1 right. Constant-power for a one-lane channel, balance for a two-lane one; ignored on other widths. |
| `channel.mute` | channel Mute | 0 to 1    | 0       |      | linear | Silences this channel. Mute beats solo. Choices: 0 On, 1 Muted.                                                                                     |
| `channel.solo` | channel Solo | 0 to 1    | 0       |      | linear | While any channel of this Mixer is soloed, only soloed channels are heard. Choices: 0 Off, 1 Solo.                                                  |

<!-- data:start -->

- `channels`: 0–32 items, each with a durable `id` and optional `name`, `color`, `icon`. Item order affects presentation only; ports and controls use the item ID.

## Tips

- −60 dB is off. Start each source quietly and leave headroom at `master`.
- Mono channels use constant-power pan into a stereo mix; stereo channels use balance with unity gain at centre. Pan is ignored on other widths.
- Channels may have an optional name, colour and icon. Their IDs stay stable when renamed or reordered.
- Use Alt (Option) Solo in the Mix drawer for exclusive solo.
