# Send

> Name a bus and send a signal to it. Every Receive with the same name in this definition hears it.

Source: https://docs.tune.toys/nodes/bus.send/

Send is the start of a wireless cable. Give it a bus name and connect a signal; any Receive with the same name picks that signal up without a cable crossing the patch.

## What it does

The compiler replaces every Send and Receive pair with a direct connection before anything plays, so a bus costs nothing at playback. A bus belongs to the definition it is drawn in: one Send per bus name, any number of Receives. The Send has no parameters and no output; its type and width are whatever you connect to it, and every Receive inherits them.

## When to use it

Use it when a cable would cross half the patch, when several distant places need the same signal, or to feed the Mix drawer's buses by name. A group that wants to publish a bus exposes it through an output port instead; buses never leak out of their definition, so a group used twice keeps two independent buses.

## Ports

<!-- ports:start -->

| Port     | Direction | Signal                | Lanes                   |
| -------- | --------- | --------------------- | ----------------------- |
| `signal` | Input | Any (follows the bus) | Inferred from the cable |

<!-- ports:end -->

## Parameters

<!-- parameters:start -->

This node has no numeric parameters.

## Tips

- Two Sends with one name are rejected. To sum signals, run them into a [Mixer](https://docs.tune.toys/nodes/std.mixer/) first and Send the mix.
- A Send with nothing connected, or no bus name yet, leaves its Receives silent; the editor draws them as unresolved.
- Buses do not create feedback: a Receive that feeds its own Send is a cycle and is rejected like any other.
