# Frame design

> Place controls, bind them to parameters and design a responsive playable panel.

A Frame is the part of a Toy that people play. It is separate from the Patch: you can redesign it without touching the sound.

## Components

Add components from the palette: knobs, sliders, toggles and momentary buttons, segmented selectors, XY pads, a piano, meters and scopes, filter and envelope editors, screens and text. See the [Components reference](https://docs.tune.toys/components/).

## Binding

A control binds to one public parameter of the Toy (or two for an XY pad). The Frame designer only offers parameters that exist. Dragging a control in the Frame changes the live sound; saving a different default is a separate step.

## Layout and style

Frames have an authored size and scale to fit their container. Use layers to order and group elements, shared styles to reuse appearance, and the Frame preview to check small screens. See [Frames](https://docs.tune.toys/concepts/frames/).

## Nested Frames

A group can have its own Frame that appears inside the parent. Each nested Frame is bound to its own instance, so editing one does not change another.
