# Presets

> A preset is a named set of public parameter values you can recall.

Source: https://docs.tune.toys/concepts/presets/

A preset stores values for public parameters under a name so a sound can be recalled in one step.

## What it does

Presets belong to a definition. Selecting one applies all of its values together after checking each against its control range. A preset captures base values, not momentary modulation. Applying a preset is a playing action; saving or changing source defaults is a separate editing action.

## Tips

- Save a preset before experimenting.
- Presets store only parameter values, not the patch structure.
