> MIDI notes play instruments and MIDI CC messages can move controls.

MIDI input lets hardware keyboards and controllers play a Toy.

## What it does

Notes reach note-receiving nodes such as the [Polyphonic instrument](https://docs.tune.toys/nodes/std.poly/). A control can also store a MIDI binding of channel and CC number so a controller knob moves it over the control's range. The Toy stores only the channel and CC number; the device you use is a local setting and is never saved in the Toy. The browser asks for MIDI access when you start using it.

## Tips

- Use the MIDI learn option on a control, then move a controller knob.
- If nothing responds, check that MIDI access was allowed.
